ICC confirms participating teams squad for Champions Trophy 2017

DUBAI – The eighth edition of ICC Champions Trophy is due to start in United Kingdom from 1 to 18 June under the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Eight teams will be participating in this mega event of International Cricket Council (ICC), the biggest after the world cup.

Participating teams will play under two groups. India, South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are featured in Group ‘B’. On the contrary, alongside Bangladesh, host England, Australia and New Zealand are in group ‘A’. The Champions Trophy follows a round-robin format with knock out rounds.

Though seven participating teams except India announced their squad within ICC’s time limit, India made the announcement their squad for Champions Trophy on 8 May due to some internal issues of BCCI.

However, after their declaration International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the squads of the participating teams on Wednesday.

According to the announcement squads, Virat Kohli will lead India while Mashrafe Mortaza, Sarfraz Ahmed, AB de Villiers, Angelo Mathews, Steve Smith will lead Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Australia respectively.

Participating teams squads are as follows:

Pakistan squad: Sarfraz Ahmad (captain), Ahmad Shahzad, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Fahim Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Hassan Ali, Imad Wasim, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez, Shadab Khan, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal and Wahab Riaz.

India squad: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (capt), Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni (wk), Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, Mohammed Shami.

South Africa squad: AB de Villiers (captain), Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, JP Duminy, Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Chris Morris, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir.

Sri Lanka squad: Angelo Mathews (captain), Dinesh Chandimal, Niroshan Dickwella, Asela Gunaratne, Chamara Kapugedera, Nuwan Kulasekera, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga, Kusal Mendis, Nuwan Pradeep, Seekkuge Prasanna, Kusal Perera, Thisara Perera, Lakshan Sandakan and Upul Tharanga.

Australia: Steve Smith (captain), David Warner, Pat Cummins, Aaron Finch, John Hastings, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Moises Henriques, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade and Adam Zampa.
