LAHORE – Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police on Wednesday have arrested two hardcore terrorists in an in intelligence-based operation in Gujranwala.
According to the CTD spokesman in Lahore, the arrested persons belong to a banned extremist organization and were planning to carry out terrorist attacks on sensitive installations in the city.
A heavy cache of arms, ammunition and explosive were recovered from them.
The arrested terrorists were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
The law enforcement agencies have launched a crackdown against banned outfits under the National Action Plan (NAP). The action against banned outfits is said to be in line with the decisions made during a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) in January this year.
