KASUR (Staff Report) – At least five villages in district Kasur have submerged after India open flood gates of River Sutlej on its side on Saturday.
About 55,000 cusecs water was passing through the Ganda Singh Wala point following the pulling off of gates by India.
The water level has risen to at least 19 feet inundating 3,000 acres land and displacing a large number of people residing on bank of the river.
The villages which have been hit by flood water include Bhaki Wind, Katti Kalanjar, Basti Kamal Pura and Mastay Kay.
Rescue 1122 staffers and the district administration shifted the affected people to safer places in boats.
Water level in River Sutlej is continuously rising while the Indian authorities have not informed Pakistan that they will release more water.
Earlier, water level in River Sutlej increased just after the three flood gates opened by the Indian authorities. Â Indian authorities opened the floodgates toward Pakistan near Ferozepur Head-works.
Several villages of Sindh inundated due to heavy flood and high alert also issued for some other villages.
Low lying areas of Mandi Bahaudin inducted on Tuesday and on the other alarming situation is occurred at Tarbela Dam.
The maximum storage capacity of Tarbela reservoir is 1550 feet.Water at Guddu in River indus is 570000, Out flow at Chashma stands at 531596 cuescs.
Tide of 20000 cusecs water will pass through Head Ganda Singh today.Slipways opened to release extra water.
