PCB cancels roundtable conference following PSL spot-fixing scandal

DUBAI – Following the spot-fixing scandal that hit Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has cancelled the round table conference with cricketers scheduled for March 2017.

The PCB said in a statement, “Owing to the recent development in Pakistan cricket, it has been decided to cancel the round table conference of cricketers planned by PCB in Lahore in March 2017 aimed at improvement of cricket in the country”.

The PCB did not describe the “recent development”, but it is evident that decision was taken after the PSL scandal of cricketers, the local media reported.

“The Chairman PCB will hold working group sessions with former cricketers in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad to seek their views and suggestions on the cricket structure in the country,” the statement added.

Earlier, the PCB had announced a round table conference in Lahore in March and had aimed to invite bigwigs like Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram and others to discuss five-point agenda to improve cricket in Pakistan.
