RAWALPINDI – Four Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred on Monday as Indian forces opened fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, said a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The Indian army resorted to unprovoked heavy firing and mortar shelling in Jandrot and Kotil sector along the LoC at a time when Pakistan troops were working on communication lines.
In response, Pakistani forces gave a befitting response and killed three army men of the Indian army.
The latest ceasefire violation comes days after India’s Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat on Friday said his forces were ready to call Pakistan’s “nuclear bluff” and cross the border to carry out any operation if asked by the government.

“We will call the (nuclear) bluff of Pakistan. If we will have to really confront the Pakistanis, and a task is given to us, we are not going to say we cannot cross the border because they have nuclear weapons. We will have to call their nuclear bluff,” Gen Rawat said.
In response, Pakistani military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor has warned the eastern neighbour against any armed aggression.
“We believe COAS is a very responsible appointment and four star is a rank with age-long experience and maturity,” said Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
On January 11, unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Indian occupation forces martyred a 65 years old lady in Kot Kotera Sector.
Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal also summoned the Acting Indian Deputy High Commissioner and condemned the India act.
Foreign ministry in its statement said, “Despite calls for restraint, India continues to indulge in ceasefire violations. In 2018 the Indian forces have carried out more than 70 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary in just 12 days, resulting in the shahadat of one innocent civilian and injuries to 5 others. This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed more than 1900 ceasefire violations”.
On Dec 25, three Pakistan Army personnel were martyred in India firing in Rakhchikri sector of the Line of Control.
