NO EVIDENCE: Terrorism charge against Sufi Muhammad withdrawn

PESHAWAR (Staff Report) – An anti-terrorism court in Peshawar withdrew sixteen out of total nineteen cases registered against banned TNSM chief Maulana Sufi Muhammad on Saturday.

All of the withdrawn cases were registered under anti-terrorism act.

Judge Abdul Rauf, according to the details, heard the case and ordered prosecution to peruse the remaining three cases in civil courts while dismissing the charges of terrorism on the basis of no evidence.

Sufi Muhammad was the main character to demand the federal government to enforce shariah laws in Malakand division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province in 2009.

The movement had resulted in an military operation Sawat where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban held the majority areas and defied the state laws.
