ISLAMABAD/KARACHI (Web Desk) – Following the orders of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) on Tuesday raided the offices of Axact – a Pakistani IT company – in Rawalpindi and Karachi.
According to sources, an FIA Cyber Crime Cell team has raided the Axact’s office in Rawalpindi and Karachi, after thorough interrogation. Moreover, the FIA team has also sealed off company’s records and electronic gadgets.

A Senate’s standing committee is likely to freeze all the back accounts and other assets of Axact, the sources add.
The interior minister on Tuesday ordered an immediate inquiry into a special report published by The New York Times about Axact that claimed that the company was in business of fake degrees as part of a massive, global scam.

Taking notice of the scandal, Ch Nisar directed the FIA to submit a report after a thorough investigation. In his directive, the minister also said that the FIA was to determine whether the contents of the NYT story were true and whether the company was involved in any illegal business which may bring a “bad name” to Pakistan, an interior ministry spokesman said.
