Eight Baloch students reported missing from Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar

Eight Balochi Students Reported Missing From Karachis Gulistan E Johar

KARACHI – In a worrisome situation, eight students have reportedly gone missing from a shared residence in Gulistan-e-Johar, with family members alleging institutions responsible for their abduction.

Students who hailed from Balochistan were identified as Shoaib Ali, Haneef, Ishfaq, Shahzad, Bebarg Ameer, Zubair, Qambar Ali, and Saeedullah include three enrolled at Karachi University. Families assert that the students were taken by law enforcement from their residence in Rustam Zikri Goth.

Wazir Ahmed, brother of missing student Qambar Ali, said that Qambar, who hails from Mashkey, Awaran, was attending coaching classes near Nipa at the time of his disappearance. Ahmed, along with relatives of other missing students, approached the Aziz Bhatti police on October 17, but their request to file a report was denied. They emphasized that the students have no political affiliations and are not involved in any suspicious activities, calling for their immediate release.

SSP-East Dr. Farrukh Raza did not respond to requests for comment regarding the allegations. In wake of these developments, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, a member of the Karachi University syndicate, expressed his horror at the situation, stating, “It is unacceptable for students to be apprehended and disappear without charges. Young students should not have to face such harsh treatment from the state.”

The families continue to seek answers and justice, raising alarms over the safety of students in the region.
