Altaf Hussain reruns MQM dissolution episode

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Only a night after dissolving the party over his displeasure with Rabita Committee, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain took back his decision early Thursday morning.

Displeased over the performance of Coordination Committee, Altaf Hussain had directed all organisational offices at Nine Zero and Khurshid Memorial Hall to be shut down forthwith.

In the same breath of ire, he announced to abolish his party and shut the phone call from London, where he is living in self-imposed exile.

He said the Rabita Committee was asked to convene a large demonstration but it failed in coming up to the mark in this regard.

The party leaders and members then converged outside Altaf Hussain’s Azizabad residence in a bid to calm him down. Media was also barred to reach the party headquarters.

A couple of hours after the announcement of abolishing his party, he addressed the party workers again at Nine Zero and announced to withdraw his decision.

Hussain directed to reopen all the organisational departments at Nine Zero and Khurshid Memorial Hall.

“MQM is not against Sindhis,” Altaf Hussain asserted, adding, “the party only seeks Mohajir province in order to get rid of waderas and landlords.”

Commenting on Sindh governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, Hussain said he had nothing to do with MQM as he joined hands with the military establishment.

“I urge upon the Coordination Committee to be brave and undaunted. If not, they’d better sit back at home after resigning from their offices,” the MQM chief underscored.
