KARACHI – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has once again denied joining hands with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, holding him responsible for the current political situation.
This is the fourth time that former president had refused to be part of any reconciliation. Zardari said that Sharif used to exploit the charter of democracy for his personal interests.
Zardari accused Sharif of putting national security in danger just for his and his family’s interests. He blamed former prime minister for maligning military and judiciary.
The PPP’s response comes a day after Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi contacted the PPP to get support to approve a bill regarding delimitation of constituencies.
Earlier in August, Zardari refused to hold meeting with ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the prevailing situation.
Zardari had said that he was not willing to have any more contact with the former prime minister. He further made it clear that PPP will not be part of any grand national dialogue.
“Why did Nawaz Sharif not think about Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution and grand dialogue while staying in power?” Zardari questioned.
“Not democracy, but politics of Nawaz Sharif is in danger,” Zardari said.
