One dead, three injured as late night quake hits Sindh

KARACHI – At least one person died and three women injured as a 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck several cities of Sindh on Thursday night.

According to Meteorological Department, earthquake tremors were felt in Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Lateefabad, Matiari, Hala and Saeedabad late on Thursday night.

The epicentre of the jolts was found to be 20 km below the surface of the earth some 60 km north-east of Nawabshah.

Media reports suggested the roof of a house partially caved in due to the quake tremors in Hyderabad, killing a man and leaving his three sisters wounded. He was identified as Wasim, later on.

There were no further reports of any loss of life or property in quake-related incidents.
