PESHAWAR – Two terrorists who were killed by the security forces during a raid in Peshawar on Saturday have been identified as members of the terrorist outfit, the so-called ‘Islamic State’ or Daesh.

Peshawar police in the wee hours carried out a raid at a multi-storey flour mill in Chamkani area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital city, where the two terrorists were hiding, informed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Tahir Khan.

Two terrorists were killed, five security officers were injured in an exchange of fire between police and terrorists, the CCPO told the media.

The police also seized a huge cache of arms from the flour mill, including six hand grenades, four pistols, same number of Kalashnikovs, 600 detonators, prima cord, integrated circuits, time device and multiple mobile phones with photos of different locations.

The law enforcement agencies got a clue of the mill during the investigation into the killing of police personnel in the same area on June 15. Unknown motorcyclists had opened fire on a police vehicle in the area, killing three policemen and injuring one.

According to the security sources, the terrorists belonged to Daesh. One of them has been identified as Khaleel, an Afghan refugee, while the other as Fazal Ameen-ul-Maroof.

Their facilitator, Qari Nazeer, had rented the flour mill for terrorists, sources said.

Nazeer was released from jail around three days back, where he was imprisoned for making suicide jackets. However, the security agencies have sprung into action once again for his arrest.
