Lt Gen Muhammad Ali Takes Charge As Pakistans Defense Secretary

Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali has been appointed as Pakistan’s new defence secretary, following the formal approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Establishment Division has issued an official notification confirming his appointment for a term of two years and three months, set to end upon his retirement.

The three-star general will assume his duties on October 1, 2024, and his tenure will continue until December 31, 2026. Lt Gen Ali, who is currently serving as the Quarter Master General at the Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, is expected to bring his extensive military expertise to the position. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the country navigates evolving defence and security challenges.

Recognized for his distinguished service, Lt Gen Muhammad Ali is a recipient of the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz. His leadership is anticipated to influence Pakistan’s defence policies significantly over the coming years.
