KARACHI – The Sindh government has decided to take strict measures to combat drug use in educational institutions and to conduct drug tests for students.
The provincial government will establish a Fusion Center to enhance intelligence sharing and coordination regarding drugs across all provinces and the federal level.
This initiative aims to strengthen coordination against drugs and connect all relevant agencies through the Fusion Center. The government will also seek assistance from the Health Department for rehabilitation centers for drug addicts.
The second meeting of the committee formed to combat drugs was held in Karachi, and it was chaired by Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Excise Muhammad Saleem Rajput, Secretary Universities and Boards Abbas Baloch, Secretary Social Welfare Pervez Ahmed Syahr, ANF Commander Brigadier Umar, DIG CIA Maqdis Haider, among others.
During the meeting, UNODC officials Tom from Geneva and Sajid Aslam from Islamabad participated via video link.
