The shelter homes project is envisioned by the prime minister Imran Khan to provide a safe place to the people who sleep under the open sky for lack of resources.

Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone of the Punjab government’s shelter homes project in Lahore in November after pictures of a man sleeping with his children on the streets of Lahore went viral.

In December, the premier also inaugurated shelter home for homeless people in Peshawar.

The project is aimed at restoring the self-respect of those people who spend the night under the open sky. It is also aimed at broadening the circle of social responsibility by the state and citizens.
