Earthquake rocks Pakistan s capital, adjoining areas

ISLAMABAD – An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 struck several Pakistani cities in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtukhwa and Kashmir, the meteorological department reported on Tuesday.

The tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mansehra, Taxila, Haripur, Abbottabad, Nowhshera, Mardan, Muzaffarbad, Balakot, Pind Dadan Khan, and other adjoining areas.

No reports of injuries or any damage to property were reported. More details are awaited.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the earthquake took place at a depth of 104 kilometres North East of Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu Kashmir at a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale.

The tremors were also felt in several parts of India.
