Admiral Abbasi reviews operational preparedness of Pakistan s naval forces

KARACHI – Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi visited sea installations and forward posts and reviewed operational preparedness of the Naval Force, the Radio Pakistan reported.

According to the Pakistan Navy’s spokesman, the Naval Chief also visited naval ships posted at North Arabian Sea.

He was briefed on operational preparedness of Pakistan Navy.

The Naval Chief during the visit met with officers and Jawans and lauded the operational preparedness and their high spirit.

He said the timely detecting of Indian submarine is clear proof of operational preparedness and professional capabilities of Pakistan Navy.

Admiral Zafar Mahmood said Pakistan is peace loving country but any aggression by the enemy will be responded effectively.

Earlier, Pakistan Navy stopped an Indian submarine from trying to enter into its waters but did not target it because of its policy to maintain peace in the region.

“The submarine was detected and localised in Pakistan’s maritime zone on March 4,” said the statement by the director general of Navy’s public relations. “The submarine could have been easily engaged and destroyed had it not been Pakistan’s policy to exercise restraint in the face of Indian aggression and to give peace a chance to prevail.

“However, the submarine is being kept under watch along with monitoring of other Indian navy units. The detected submarine is one of the latest submarines of the Indian navy,” added the statement.
