ISLAMABAD – The government of Pakistan has received a positive response from India for resumption fresh peace talks to resolve the consistent problems between the neighbouring countries.
According to media reports, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in their replies sent to their Pakistani counterparts Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi respectively, through a proper diplomatic channel, have stated that India was ready to hold a comprehensive and concrete dialogue between the two countries.
Earlier this month, in a letter to his Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated him on his second term as the prime minister of India after general elections, while Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, in a letter to his Indian counterpart congratulated him on assuming office.
PM Imran had also stated in the latter that Pakistan desires the resolution of all problems, including that of the disputed Kashmir region.
The Indian leadership in their letters responded positively on the proposal for resuming peace talks with Pakistan, adding that India wants a relationship with all the countries of the region along with peace and development in the region.
The Indian government stated in the letters that India has always preferred the development of the people and that this effort has also been appreciated by Pakistan.
The letter read further that India is ready to hold discussion with Pakistan and other countries, with a special focus on terrorism in negotiations.
According to media, PM Imran and Foreign minister Qureshi will soon respond to the letter from their counterparts.
