Afghan President Ashraf Ghani returns home after Pakistan tour

LAHORE – President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani returned home after one-day visit to Lahore on Friday.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar saw off the Afghan president at the airport.

Talking on the occasion, Usman Buzdar said that he was happy to host him and this tour would further promote bilateral relations.

Usman Buzdar also presented picture album to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani who thanked Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for warm hospitality in Lahore.

“This album is memorable for me and I am leaving with fond memory,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Sardar Usman Buzdar received Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at Lahore airport.

According to a handout issued here, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar warmly shook hands while the children presented bouquets to the Afghan president.

The chief minister said, “We warmly welcome the Afghan president in the provincial capital and this visit is indeed a new start of Pakistan-Afghanistan ties.”

The visit would further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries, he added.

Usman Buzdar further said both the countries enjoyed brotherly relations and boosting of contacts would help increase trade and economic activities.

He said, “We have to move forward jointly for maintaining peace in the region.”

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said that he was happy to visit Lahore which was the heart of Pakistan.

Chief Secretary, IG Police, Commissioner, and CCPO Lahore, besides other officials, were also present on the occasion.
