Gen Raheel Sharif signs death warrants for four APS attack terrorists

RAWALPINDI (Staff Report) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday signed the death warrants for as many as four terrorists involved in deadly attack on Army Public School (APS) in December last year, the ISPR said.

President Mamnoon Hussain had dismissed the mercy appeals of the terrorists on November 19, on special recommendation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

All four culprits, who maintained identity as Hazrat Ali, Molvi Abdul Salam, Taj Muhammad and Kifayatullah; were awarded death sentences by a military trial court however they filed mercy appeals with President Office.

The convicts were given a fair trial by following all the legal formalities and providing them legal aid and defense counsels, according to ISPR.

Main preparators of APS attack are already killed by Pakistan army during an aerial offence in tribal region of the country, according to army spokesperson.

 

Last year on December 16 a group of terrorists attacked Army Public School in Peshawar and killed as many as 151 people including children.

As a result an intensive operation was conducted by Pakistan army’s Special Services Group (SSG) to clear the school killing all seven attackers.
