QUETTA – A suicide bomber struck a security forces convoy in the country’s southwestern region, killing at least 9 personnel and wounding over a dozen more, officials said.
There was fear the death toll could rise, as some of the injured were rushed to hospital with critical injuries.
Soon after the incident, security forces and rescue personnel rushed to the site while the area has been cordoned off and further proceedings are underway. An emergency has also been imposed at all local medical facilities in Quetta.
Amid the operation, a chopper of provincial administration was sent to Bolan for rescue, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo confirmed.
Reports in local media suggest that the constabulary vehicle comes under attack while it was on its way back to the provincial capital from Sibi on the Kambri bridge in the area bordering the Sibi and Kachhi borders.
Initial evidence suggested that the explosion was a suicide attack while the exact details of the latest terror attack are yet to be shared after the probe.
Meanwhile, no terror outfit has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack. It is the latest in a series of attacks in areas bordering Afghanistan as Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other splinter groups escalated attacks on security forces.
