Pakistan clinch win over New Zealand on DLS method to stay alive in World Cup 2023

BENGALURU – Pakistan won must win match against New Zealand by 21 runs on DLS method as the game called off due to heavy rain.  

During the game, downpour interrupted Men in Green’s charge in World Cup match against Kiwis with the team 10 runs ahead on DLS par score. Team Green was placed comfortably at 160 for one in their chase of 402 runs for victory when rain stopped play with 21.3 overs bowled.

Pakistani team chased the mammoth target and is at 200/1, courtesy of a brilliant ton of opener Fakhar Zaman.

Following the rain delay, the overs have been reduced to 41, an drevised target has now been reduced to 342 from 41 overs.

The must win World Cup match between Pakistan and New Zealand match has been stopped due to rain as Pakistan is 10 runs ahead of Kiwis as per DLS method.

Team Green remained under pressure, chasing huge target; Fakhar Zaman howver conitnued tremendous assault on Kiwsi bowlers. 

New Zealand buried Pakistan under a mountain of runs, leaving Men in Green to chase a mammoth 401 in the crucial match on Saturday.

 Left-hand power hitter Ravin Rachindra slammed a dominant ton, while skipper Kane Williamson registered 95, after cameo by Glenn Phillips who help Black Caps post a huge 401 runs against struggling Pakistan.

Ace pacer Shaheen Afridi bowls the most expensive spell by Pakistani bowler in World Cup history. The 23-year-old failed to get single wicket after 23 consecutive ODIs.

Pakistan conceded 46 boundaries in their do-or-die game in Bengaluru. 

Opener Devon Convoy scored 35, and after his departure Rawindra and Willianson fired salvo. Daryll Mitchell and Chapman could not score big but helped their side making huge score.

Glenn Philips scored 41, while Santer and Latham remained not out on 26, and 2 respectively.

Pakistan have won the toss and decided to bowl first in crucial clash of the World Cup 2023 against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

With eight points at the moment, New Zealand is in fourth position and will be vying for a semi-final spot in this pivotal match. Pakistan, who have six points and are at sixth position, will be their opponent. 

While New Zealand is up against a three-match losing run, Pakistan is coming into the game looking to snap a four-match losing streak.

This match will take place in Bengaluru, which is renowned for its high-scoring contests. 

Pakistan has to beat New Zealand this week with overwhelming confidence. Pakistan would go ahead of New Zealand in the tournament rankings with a victory of 84 runs. As an alternative, they could have an edge if they can chase the goal down in 35 overs.
