Eidul Adha 2024 in Pakistan on June 17 as Zil Hajj moon sighted

KARACHI – The Zil hajj moon has been sighted in Pakistan and Eidul Azha will fall on June 17 (Monday), Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad announced on Friday.

The announcement was made after a meeting of the committee at the main offices of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi.

The first day of the last Islamic month will be on June 8 in Pakistan. 

The Met Office has already predicted that Eidul Adha is expected to fall on June 17, 2024 (Monday) as there were clear chances of moon sighting on June 7.

A day earlier, Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced that June 7 will be the first day of Zil Hajj, following the sighting of the crescent moon on Thursday evening.

June 7 marks the beginning of the Hajj pilgrimage season this year, with the first day of Eidul Adha falling on the 10th of Zil Hajj (June 16). Arafat Day, which is observed on the ninth day of the Islamic month, will be on June 15.
