SRINAGAR – Indian authorities were left fuming on Sunday when players of a cricket club in Indian occupied Kashmir wore Pakistani jerseys and sang Pakistan’s national anthem before a match.
According to the details, a cricket match was held at Wayil grounds in Ganderbal on the day when Indian premier Narendra Modi was bound to visit the disputed valley.
The cricket match stirred controversy as a team named after ‘Baba Darya Ud Din’ showed allegiance to Pakistan not only by wearing traditional Green shirts but also sang the Pakistani national anthem.
Prior to the start of the match, the commentator announced through loudspeakers that Pakistani national anthem would be played before the match as a ‘mark of respect’.
