BEIJING – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is in China on a six-day visit, met his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang on Saturday and congratulated him for holding One Belt One Road Initiative.
The prime minister said that Pakistan considered China as its most important friend and was committed to support the One Belt One Road Initiative. He termed the participation of key world leaders in the meeting a good gesture.
“We all stand as one for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Pakistan is determined for its early completion,” the premier said.
After the meeting, Pakistan and China signed various agreements in Beijing on the same day.
He was accompanied by chief ministers of all four provinces, as well as Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Railways Minister Saad Rafique, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir and IT Minister Anushay Rehman, among others.
The PM reached China along with high-level delegation to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The Prime Minister is attending the moot at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
The Belt and Road Forum (BRF) is part of the “Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” (OBOR) initiative launched by President Xi Jinping in 2013.
