Two political administration officials killed in Kurram Agency

PESHAWAR – Two officials of the political administration were killed on Saturday night when unknown assailants attacked their car in Kurram Agency.

Revealing the details, an official said political agent Muharrar Sarfaraz Hussain and his security guard Mumtaz Hussain were on a routine patrol when their vehicle was targeted in Tangi Khwar area of the agency near the Pak-Afghan border.

He maintained that it could not be immediately ascertained if the deceased were fired upon from across the border. However, he added, investigations were initiated to identify and arrest the suspects, Express Tribune reported.

Although Kurram witnessed a brief respite in the recent past but a recent spree of violence is sure to raise questions among law enforcers. Just two days ago, as many as three security men had been injured in the same area when they were fired upon from the Afghan side of the border.

The agency remained the only area on the Pakistani side where houses were damaged when the United States dropped the Mother of All Bombs (MOAB) in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province to target IS hideouts in April.
