Nawaz Sharif s picture removed from Karachi airport, profile removed from NA website

ISLAMABAD – The picture of Pakistan’s former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been removed from Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, in the wake of disqualification by the five-member bench of the supreme court in the backdrop of Panama papers case.

Nawaz Sharif’s picture as prime minister of the country hung at the airport of Karachi, along with the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah and President Mamnoon Hussain, was removed from the airport of Pakistan’s biggest city.

Not only that, his name as chief executive of the country and as legislator was also erased from the website of National Assembly of Pakistan.

The former prime minister’s name has been removed from the list of members available on the website. The constituency (NA-120) from where he was elected overpowering PTI’s Yasmeen Rashid is also not listed.

Nawaz Sharif, who was serving as the 15th premier of the country, a third-term for himself was disqualified unanimously by a five-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa for failing to disclose his un-withdrawn receivables constituting assets from UAE-based Capital FZE in his nominations papers for the 2013 General Election.

Following the apex court verdict, the Election Commission of Pakistan issued a notification disqualifying Nawaz Sharif as a member of the National Assembly.
