Karachi: Three suspected terrorists killed in shootout

KARACHI – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have killed three suspected terrorists in a late night encounter in Karachi on Sunday.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shahid Hamid, CTD carried out a targeted raid on a tip-off in a house at Machar Colony.

The terrorists opened fire when police approached, he added.

After a heavy exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed, while four others were arrested.

Moreover, CTD claimed to have seized a huge cache of arms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

A heavy contingent of police was deployed to conduct search operations in the area, in order to nab further accomplices of the militants.

The paramilitary force has ramped up the Karachi operation to weed out terrorism. The operation launched at a time when Qaim Ali Shah was the chief minister is still on with full momentum. Apart from CTD, Rangers is also actively taking part in the operation.
