CTD claims to have killed four TTP terrorists near Lahore blast site

LAHORE – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have gunned down four alleged Tehreek-e-Taliban terrorists in an encounter near Sagian Bridge, hours after an explosion ripped through the area killing one on Monday.

According to the CTD, after the road blast, police were deployed at all entry and exit points of Lahore to stave off any further threats.

As police approached a vehicle for a search at check point, armed men inside the vehicle opened fire, according to CTD officials.

A senior official of the department described that police effectively responded, and in retaliatory fire, four terrorists were killed, while three others managed to flee the scene due to darkness, a CTD official said further.

The law enforcer claimed to have seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the custody of the slain terrorists who are believed to be affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

After the operation, a heavy contingent of police was called in the area to launch search operations to apprehend the accomplices of the slain terrorists.
