Pakistan s economic sustainability lies with peaceful Afghanistan: Asif

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that establishing peace in Afghanistan would ultimately benefit the economic reforms being carried out by Pakistan to make the country stable.

The foreign minister further said that Pakistan was willing to work with the United States to bring stability to the neighbouring country once Washington reveals its reviewed policy on Afghanistan.

Asif stated this while talking to US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson who made a phone call to him to extend best wishes on the 70th Independence Day anniversary of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported.

The foreign minister stressed the need for developing dynamic and diverse ties with the US on the basis of mutual trust, sincerity and confidence.

The US has been a partner of Pakistan in its efforts for achieving development, both in the socio-economic and defence sectors.

Secretary Tillerson also invited the Foreign Minister to visit the United States to carry on the conversation, while Asif also extended invitation to Tillerson to visit Pakistan, who accepted it.
