PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has formed vigilant teams to ensure women turnout during the local bodies polls in KPK province of Pakistan, reported local media.
ECP fears that women might be barred from participating in the polls in at least five districts of the province where local government elections are being held after a decade tomorrow.
It has been reported that women might be stopped from casting their votes in 45 union councils of Mardan, Malakand, Nowshera, Swat and Kohat.
Vigilant teams have been formed by ECP to ensure that women are not stopped from polling in the elections.
“It is a crime to stop women from voting in polls,” ECP said in a statement.
ECP also added that those involved in stopping women voters from casting their votes would be dealt with stern action.
