Ishaq Dar admitted to hospital for angioplasty

LONDON – Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was admitted to a hospital in London to undergo a cardiac procedure that can extend his stay in British capital.

A photo of finance minister showing him under treatment in the hospital went viral on Friday, a day after the accountability court in Islamabad rejected his application seeking immunity from personal appearance.

Highly placed sources disclosed that the legislator underwent angiography on Thursday and his angioplasty was scheduled to take place, the following day.

It was also revealed that Ishaq Dar had been to the clinic three times for thorough checkups in the last one week after arriving in London from Pakistan.

Ali Dar, the son of treasure minister and son-in-law of former premier Nawaz Sharif is also in London to look after his father, at a time when the accountability court had summoned him in graft cases.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Ishaq Dar’s counsel Khawaja Haris argued before the court that Dar was suffering from heart ailments and so he should be exempted from personal appearance.

The court after listening to the arguments rejected the request and maintained his bailable arrest warrants while adjourning the hearing until Nov 8.
