PESHAWAR – At least eight people were killed and one injured in a landmine blast in the northwestern tribal area near the Pak-Afghan border on Tuesday.
Political administration said that an explosive device went off in Maqabl, an area of Kurram Agency when a van carrying nine people drove by.
Eight people, including three women and a seven-year-old child, were killed in the blast, the administration said, adding that all the deceased belong to the same family. Reports suggest the dead persons were Shiite Muslims.
Security forces have cordoned off the area, while rescue officials shifted bodies and injured to hospital. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
In October 2017, four security personnel of Frontier Constabulary (FC) were killed and three injured when three improvised explosive devices (IED) went off in an area of Kurram tribal agency.

According to political administration, the blasts took place in Kharlachi, an area some 100 kilometers away from Pak-Afghan border.
