ISLAMABAD – Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has clarified that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was not the sole authority to nominate a candidate for the seat of Senate chairman.
Talking to a current affairs program on Geo News, the chief minister said that candidate for the top slots in the upper house will be nominated after reaching a consensus.
The chief minister’s statement came after he had announced to support the PPP co-chairman in whatever decisions he takes. He had stated this after Zardari met him to discuss the issue regarding upcoming Senate chairman.

Speaking in Aaj Shahzeb Khazada Kay Saath, Bizenjo praised steps taken by PPP for development of Balochistan, including 18th amendment and Aghaz-e-Haqooq e Balochistan. He also hailed the PPP leader’s stance regarding the smaller province in the country.
The new-elected chief minister said that his group wants the next Senate head from Balochistan, adding, “We are expecting a decision that will be better for the province”.
Regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s stand for Senate chairman from Balochistan, he said that Khan made a good decision.
He revealed that no any PML-N delegation contacted his group, adding that he can speak with the government on this issue. However, he immediately said that he stands with PPP and PTI.
On Friday, Imran said that his party’s Senators would neither vote to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) nor Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the Senate Chairman slot.
“PTI will never support PPP and PML-N in any circumstances,” Imran affirmed.

While addressing a Press Conference in Islamabad, Imran Khan announced to support the candidate from Baluchistan for the Senate Chairman and the Deputy Chairman from Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA).
The PML-N’s strength in the Senate is now 33 while the PPP comes in second with 20 senators.
