ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Supreme Court on Friday ordered reelection in National Assembly constituency, NA-19, in Haripur city of Punjab, Samaa TV reported.
The seat was won by PTI’s Raja Amir Zaman in May 2013 general elections with 116,949 votes. His victory was challenged by PML-N candidate Umar Ayub Khan who claimed rigging in some polling stations, getting 114807 votes.
After re-polling in seven polling stations, Ayub won the seat in 2014. But Zaman did not give up and challenged his rival’s victory in Supreme Court.
The apex court admitted Zaman’s review petition for hearing today and issued orders for reelection in the constituency’s seven controversial polling stations.
However, a final date for election has not been issued by three-member SC bench that was headed by Justice Jawad S.Khawaja.
