Seven Pakistani peacekeepers honoured with UN medals posthumously

RAWALPINDI – The United Nations on Thursday honoured seven Pakistanis, who lost their lives while serving in the world body s peacekeeping operations.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the ceremony was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was the chief guest of the ceremony, the statement added.

The seven Pakistani peacekeepers who were honored include Naik Qaiser Abbas of MINUSCA (Central African Republic); Sepoy Yasir Abbas of UNAMID (Darfur); Sepoy Muhammad Ishtiaq Abbasi of MONUSCO (Democratic Republic Of Congo); Havildar Zishan Ahmed of MONUSCO (Democratic Republic Of Congo); Sepoy Hazrat Bilal of MINUSCA (Central African Republic); Naik Abdul Ghafoor of MINUSCA (Central African Republic), and Naik Atta Ur Rehman of MONUSCO (Democratic Republic Of Congo).
