Hamza Shehbaz summoned by NAB in Saaf Pani Company case

LAHORE – National Accountability Bureau has summoned Hamza Shehbaz, the son of Chief Minister Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif regarding an ongoing corruption inquiry against the management of Punjab Saaf Pani Company (PSPC).

The lawmaker has been directed to appear before the anti-corruption bureau on May 18th and reportedly, a questionnaire has also been forwarded to him.

According to the notice issued by the bureau on Thursday, Hamza is in possession of crucial information about the company in question.

“The inquiry against management/officers/officials of Punjab Saaf Pani Company (South) and others has revealed that you are in possession of information/evidence whatsoever, which relates to the commission of the said offence(s),” the notice stated.

“Moreover, you attended various meetings related to issues pertaining to the affairs of Punjab Saaf Pani Company.” it added.

The notice to Hamza came a day after Chief Minister Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif was asked to appear before the accountability watchdog on June 4, in the same case.

According to sources, the anti-graft body has also sent a questionnaire to the president of ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.

The chief minister had earlier appeared before NAB in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme case.
