ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has postponed his visit to Karachi that was scheduled for today (Monday). He will now be visiting the city on Wednesday.
According to report, the reason behind last minute postponement of the visit was some ‘important engagements’ of the Prime Minister.
The PM was due in the city today to review the issues of heat-related deaths in Karachi and the loadshedding problem.
He was also scheduled to hold meetings with Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah who had to brief him about causes of deaths and government’s relief efforts in Karachi where more than 1100 people have lost their lives due to heatstroke.
Sources said the PM was also expected to meet PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Governor’s House. The two high-ups were to discuss current political situation in the meeting.
