PM Nawaz arrives in Karachi

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi where over 1200 people died of killer heat wave in the mega city. He will take stock of large number of deaths and law and order situation during his one-day visit, Samaa TV reported on Wednesday.

Earlier, he was all set to fly into the city on Monday; however, owing to some pressing engagements, he had to cancel his Karachi visit for another two days.

It should be mentioned here that the intensely hot weather threw mercury up to 45 degree centigrade on 20 June that prompted the string of deaths in Karachi.

According to the schedule, he will hold first meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

Nawaz Sharif will have a briefing on the deaths caused by heat-wave. Meantime, various other affairs including power crisis in Karachi, performance of K-Electric and law and order will be brought under discussion.

The Prime Minister will also visit Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College to inquire about the health of the heatstroke patients.

PM Sharif will chair a high-level meeting in connection with law and order in the city and the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.

He is also expected to see PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
