ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan paid his first visit to the General Headquarters (GHQ) after assuming charge on Thursday to discuss the crucial security-related issues with the military leadership.
Upon arrival PM Khan was presented guard of honour by a smartly turned out guard. PM laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada monument to pay tribute to the martyrs. PM was introduced to all PSOs of the GHQ.
The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, Maj General Asif Ghafoor disclosed on twitter that the premier was received by Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa upon arrival.

The military spokesperson detailed that the prime minister was being briefed on defence, internal security and other professional matters.
Imran Khan is flanked by Ministers of Defence Pervaiz Khattak, Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Minister of State for Interior.

PM Khan and the ministers were given detailed briefings on security environment, threat spectrum and response. Updates on Pak Army’s campaign against terrorism, ongoing operation Radd ul Fasaad, Karachi situation and Khushal Balochistan program was also given. PM Imran Khan greatly appreciated the professionalism, operational readiness, and contributions & sacrifices of Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism.
He said that Pakistan is facing external and internal challenges but with the support of the nation and through a cohesive national approach, we shall successfully overcome these. PM assured that Govt shall provide all resources required to maintain capability and capacity of the Army. He said that Pakistan is destined to rise and Inshallah we shall rise to stay positively relevant in the comity of nations.

This is the first tour of Imran Khan to GHQ after becoming the 22nd premier of the country.

The two dignitaries expressed resolve to continue efforts for enduring peace and stability in the country.
Info Minister terms PM’s visit to GHQ wonderful
Minister of Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has termed the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the GHQ wonderful.
In a tweet, the Information Minister said the Prime Minister and members of the cabinet were proud to meet command of the world’s best army.
He said a detailed briefing in GHQ was of great value.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said with close coordination and cooperation amongst all institutions, we shall overcome all challenges confronting Pakistan.
