LAHORE – An earthquake of massive intensity stirred panic across the country as it shook major cities on Saturday.
The earthquake tremors felt in Lahore, Faisalabad, Okara, Sargodha, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Chinniot, Wazirabad, Pakpattan, Jaranwala, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Okara, and Kasur.
Initial reports suggest the earthquake magnitude has been recorded at 5.6 on the Richter scale, with 40 kilometers in depth and its epicenter was northern areas.
The tremors were strong enough that people came out of their offices and houses, moving towards safe places. The duration of the earthquake was reported around 5 to 6 seconds.
No causality or damage has been reported so far.
Social media users also shared the reports of the earthquake and prayed for the people of Punjab.

In June, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 struck southern Punjab, triggering panic among residents in different cities.
Tremors were reported in DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Uch Sharif and Faisalabad, with people coming out of their homes in fear.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicentre of the 5.2-magnitude earthquake is 42 kilometres west of Dera Ghazi Khan. The depth of the quake was estimated to be 10km, USGS added.
In May, Pakistan was rocked by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake, which was recorded in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan region.
Tremors were felt across the country’s northern regions, including the federal capital, Abbottabad, Bajaur Agency, Manshera, Dera Ismail Khan, Jhang, Chitral, Peshawar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Swat, Nowshera, Mianwali, Kotli, DG Khan, Okara, Kasur.
