Crisis in Yemen: 181 Pakistanis reach Djibouti via Chinese ship

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - As many as 181 Pakistani citizens stranded in war-torn Yemen have reached the African state of Djibouti through a Chinese Naval vessel , officials confirmed on Thursday.

The citizens had gone back to their residences the previous day after delays in authorisation for the Chinese vessel to dock at Aden.

Earlier, 181 Pakistanis had reached the port of Aden, from where they were split into groups of 40 and taken by boat to board the Chinese vessel.

A special PIA airplane, which is on standby at Karachi airport, will now depart for Djibouti to airlift the citizens.

Arrangements have been made by the Pakistani diplomatic staff in Djibouti for the immigration, related documentation and their temporary stay there.

A foreign office spokesperson had earlier said that the Pakistani nationals have completed their immigration process.

Meanwhile, a Pakistan Navy vessel has docked at the Yemeni port city of Mukallah to bring the remaining Pakistani citizens back to the country.
