LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has said that his party will lodge protest against the alleged rigging in the elections once the elected members take oath as lawmaker in the National Assembly.
Talking to a private news channel, the former Punjab chief minister said that he had briefed incarcerated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif about the recent elections, adding that the former premier had also been about launching the protest.
Praising the services of his elder brother, who is serving his term in Adiala Jail following conviction in the Avenfield case, the PML-N president said that it was Nawaz who drove out the country from massive loadshedding and made Pakistan an atomic country.
“Public will not forgive us if we fail to raise voice against the rigging,” Shehbaz said.
The PML-N’s plan came out hours before the All Parties Conference is set to meet today for finalizing the future course of action with regard to the alleged ballot rigging.
The meeting will take place in the evening at National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s residence, sources said, adding that PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif, Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, Saad Rafique, Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan Peoples Party’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Khursheed Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Senator Sherry Rehman, Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal’s Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Senator Sirajul Haq, Sajid Mir, Liaquat Baloch and Owais Noorani, Awami National Party’s Asfandyar Wali Khan, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party’s Mahmood Khan Achakzai, National Party’s Senator Hasil Bizenjo, Pak Sarzameen Party’s Mustafa Kamal and members of other opposition parties are expected to attend the APC.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan will not be attending the APC as it has lent its support to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the centre.
