LAHORE – The 62 kilometres long Gojra-Shorkot section of Faisalabad to Multan Motorway (M-4) is being opened for traffic today (Saturday).
Minister for Communications, Murad Saeed will inaugurate the section at Shorkot interchange, Radio Pakistan reported.
A ceremony to make the section operational for the general public will be held at Shorkot interchange, which would be attended by the federal minister and senior officers of National Highway Authority (NHA) and Ministry of Communications.
The Gojra-Shorkot section includes 3 interchanges at Toba Tek Singh, Warriyamwala and Shorkot while 21 underpasses, 39 subways are also a part of the project.
The M-4 consists of four sections, including 84 kilometres long Faisalabad-Gojra, 61-kilometer Gojra-Shorkot, 64-kilometer Shorkot-Khanewal and 45-kilometer Khanewal-Multan section.
According to General Manager Construction (M-4) Muhammad Shoaib, the section was constructed in two parts.
The first part, from Gojra to Jamani is 31-km long, constructed at a cost of Rs 7.45 billion. The second part from Jamani to Shorkot was 30-km long, completed at a cost of Rs 8.65 billion, he said.
The Gojra-Shorkot Motorway project was initiated by the last government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the year 2016.
