Ahmed Chinoy resigns as CPLC chief

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Citizen Police and Liaison Committee (CPLC) chief Ahmed Chinoy tendered his resignation to Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, local reported on Tuesday.

Chinoy served as the CPLC chief for four years.

According to sources, the new head of the CPLC will be appointed within a week.

Sources say that Chinoy was asked to resign by the governor, who is the Patron-in-Chief of CPLC.

He, however, denied the reports that he was forced to quit. “I have tendered my resignation voluntarily,” he said.

In January this year, Rangers had raided the residence of Ahmed Chinoy after being accused of mishandling a kidnapping for ransom case.

A spokesman for the Rangers said the Special Task Force conducted the raid and recovered the 24-year-old kidnapping victim.

The spokesman added the kidnappers had demanded Rs 2 million for his release, a charge he denied.
