QUETTA (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the enemies of Pakistan, being jealous of its rapid progress, are trying to destabilise its peace through attacks such as in Mastung.
“Pakistan’s enemies are not happy with its progress and development and want to weaken it through such cowardly acts,” the premier said while chairing All Parties Conference (APC) on law and order in Quetta on Tuesday.
As per reports, all political parties with or without presence in the Parliament are attending the crunch meeting underway at Governor House Quetta today.
The military top brass including Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and DG ISI Lt-Gen Rizwan Akhtar is also attending the APC meeting, after being invited by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch.
The premier is on an official one-day tour to the city in wake of the brutal Mastung bus attack in which at least 22 people were killed.
“The Mastung incident is extremely tragic and has shocked the entire nation,” he added.
Reiterating the government’s resolve to purge the country from terrorists, Nawaz Sharif said, “Operation Zarb-e-Azb is progressing and IDPs are now going back to their homes.”
The provincial government formally invited all political parties to attend the APC to deliberate over the law and order situation following the Mastung massacre on May 30.
Earlier, Balochistan Chief Secretary Danyal Gilani briefed the premier on the law and order situation in the province and in particular about the specifics of the Mastung incident.
Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti blamed RAW-backed militant groups for the dastardly attack.
Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Minister of State for Petroleum, Jam Kamal, Balochistan Minister for Mines, Sanaullah Zehri are among other senior officials also attended the meeting.
At least 25 passengers were kidnapped from two Quetta-Karachi bound passenger coaches near Kadocha area on May 30.
The bodies of 19 passengers were recovered from a site while three other injured passengers died of their wounds later.
