BNP’s Akhtar Mengal resigns from National Assembly over ‘situation in Balochistan’

ISLAMABAD – Balochistan National Party (BNP) leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal on Tuesday announced his resignation from the National Assembly.

He made the announcement in a presser, stating: “Today, I am announcing my resignation from the assembly. I haven’t informed anyone about this decision before, but I am disclosing it in this press conference.”

He regretted that he was unable to achieve anything for his people and had made the decision after assessing the situation in Balochistan.

Mengal declared his ll, President Asif Ali Zardari,  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressing he had not trust in the entire system.

Mengal lamented that the issues of Balochistan are being ignored, and he has been unable to do anything for his people.

“Whenever I try to speak about the issue, it is blacked out,” he said.

He criticized the current state of governance, saying, it would be better for him to open a shop instead of sitting in the assembly.

It is recalled that Akhtar Mengal was elected as a member of the National Assembly from NA-256 Khuzdar.
