ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan will present his party’s viewpoint in National Assembly on Thursday over rising tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
The PTI has clearly rejected the foreign affairs adviser’s policy statement over the simmering tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia after the execution of a prominent Shia cleric. Imran Khan advocates a proactive role by Pakistan for resolving issues between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Party source told Daily Pakistan that the PTI chairman, in his NA speech, will present the party’s stance over the situation.
Khan had earlier tweeted that as tension grew between Saudi Arabia and Iran, Pakistan must play a proactive role in resolving the tension between the two Muslim countries.
On Tuesday, PM’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had briefed the National Assembly about Pakistan’s viewpoint.
Being a friend of Saudi Arabia and Iran, Aziz said, Pakistan would try to bridge the divide and improve the relationship between the two Muslim countries. He also announced he would present a more detailed statement on Thursday after meeting the Saudi foreign minister who is scheduled to reach Islamabad tomorrow (Thursday).
