ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Interior on Tuesday gave permission to issue red warrants for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.
According to the ministry, Altaf Hussain is wanted to Pakistani authorities in various cases, including terrorism-related cases.
Some days ago, an anti-terrorism court had directed the authorities to ensure the presence of Altaf Hussain before the court which is hearing three identical cases against Hussain pertaining to his Aug 22 anti-Pakistan speech.
Following the instructions, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had asked the Minister of Interior to issue red warrants for the MQM chief. After the issuance of warrants, the FIA will contact Interpol for bringing Altaf Hussain to Pakistan.
Farooq, 50, a founding member of the MQM, was stabbed and beaten to death in Edgware, north-west London, as he returned home from work on September 16, 2010.
