Indian media s leaks on confidential UN Ombudsperson report advancing country s political agenda: FO

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Office Spokesman Mohammed Faisal on Thursday said leaks in Indian media about a confidential UN Ombudsperson report on de-listing reinforced Pakistan’s concerns regarding India’s deliberate attempts to politicize the UN’s counter-terrorism regime.

“Such leaks are neither new nor surprising,” the Spokesman told reporters here, adding that such attempts aimed at advancing India’s political agendas.

The Spokesman expressed hope that relevant UN Sanctions Committee would investigate such leaks and hold those responsible to account.

He said Pakistan had neither seen the report of the Ombudsperson nor its findings since it was a confidential document.

“We will respond to the report as and when it is made available to us,” he said.
The Spokesman drew attention to the prescribed UN procedure for filing listing and de-listing requests by individuals and entities.

“Every listed individual or entity is legally entitled to submit de-listing requests directly with the UN Ombudsperson,” he said.
